"The castle of Montaigu was located on the left bank of the river Ourche, opposite Marcourt near Laroche in the county of Ardenne[169]. Its territory lies in the present-day Belgian province of Luxembourg. Although little remains of the ruins of the destroyed castle, a chapel dedicated to Saint Thibaut dominates the mountain on which it was built[170]. The comtes de Montaigu held the seigneurie de Rochefort, south of Namur, arrondissement Dinant in the present-day Belgian province of Namur, which passed by inheritance to the Walcourt family and was elevated into a county in 1494[171]"

"The county of Dormois ("Dulcomensis") lay to the west of the river Meuse north of Verdun. Vanderkindere says that it corresponded “aux cantons de Vienne le Château, Grand-Pré, Buzancy, Dun et Varennes”[443]. The division of Lotharingian territories agreed 8 Aug 870 between Ludwig II "der Deutsche" King of the East Franks and his half-brother Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks allocated "…comitatum…Dulmense…" to King Charles[444]. The county of Grandpré, shown in the document CHAMPAGNE-PORCIEN, RETHEL, GRANDPRE, later emerged in the western part of this area[445]. "

"The common use of the name Patrice indicates that the Chaources/Chaworth family in England was descended from the family of the seigneurs de Sourches in Maine (see the document MAINE NOBILITY). The parentage of Patrice [III], ancestor of the English family set out below, is uncertain. An English source dated to the reign of King William II confirms that his father’s name was Patrick/Patrice. The chronology of the family suggests that this was probably Patrice [II], although this affiliation cannot be confirmed beyond all doubt. "Patricius de Cadurcis" donated land "apud Ameneye de feodo suo…[et] apud Ameneye Sancti Nicholai" to Gloucester St Peter, with the confirmation of "rege Henrico seniore", by undated charter but dated to "tempore Willelmi abbatis" [abbot from 1113 to 1131][1459]"

"The castle of Sourches en Saint-Symphorien, previously known as Chaources, is situated in the canton of Conlie in the present-day French département of la Sarthe, north-west of Le Mans. Cars and Ledru note that in medieval times there existed two castles of the same name, located close to each other, held by different families of seigneurs whom they suggest were descended from the brothers Bouchard [I] and Hugues [I] who are shown below[28]. The definitive reconstruction of this family is hampered by the number of references to individuals named Hugues. They have been separated for presentational purposes into six different persons. It is likely that there is considerable overlap, but it is not possible to ascertain with certainty the number of different persons named Hugues de Chaources who existed"
